Obstetrics/Gynecology
Dr. Nutis is from the El Paso-Juarez area. He graduated medical school from the University of Juarez School of Medicine. He was awarded valedictorian, finishing at the top of his class in 1998. Dr. Nutis then completed his Family Medicine residency at Texas Tech El Paso in 2003, and is board-certified in Family Medicine. He decided to pursue a career in women's health, and completed a second residency in Obstetrics-Gynecology at Texas Tech El Paso in 2006.
Dr. Nutis is board certified in Family Medicine and OB/GYN. He furthered his training by completing a fellowship in Laparoscopic Gynecologic Surgery at Stanford University in 2007, where he was taught by the pioneer and top international gynecologic surgeon, Dr. Camran Nezhat.
Dr. Nutis is one of three physicians in El Paso, with fellowship training in minimally invasive laparoscopic gynecologic procedures. During his fellowship, Dr. Nutis wrote a chapter in the book Nezhat's Operative Gynecologic Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy, 3rd edition, and has actively researched and published in the field of minimally invasive surgery. He has published several videos about surgical procedures for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a proctor for other OB/GYNs in the use of surgical instruments (Gyrus ACMI). Dr. Nutis was also trained in the latest robotic technology, the DaVinci robot, during his fellowship at Stanford University.
Dr. Nutis continues to be on the cutting-edge of OB/GYN, as board-certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynegology, as well as maintaining an active presence in the academic university community of El Paso and internationally in Juarez. He teaches residents at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Department of OB/GYN, as an assistant professor. He is a member of the Peri-Operative Services Committee at University Medical Center El Paso. Dr. Nutis is not only involved with the residency program in El Paso, but also teaches OB/GYN residents from the University of Juarez School of Medicine. In 2009, he and his residents were awarded first place in research at the Southwest Association of Hispanic American Physicians annual meeting.
Dr. Nutis is currently in private practice at First Choice OB/GYN Associates, PA, with Dr. Novoa, where he practices Obstetrics and Gynecology.
